SISP & Kovalam Surfclub
A good friend told us about a social project in the South Indian state of Kerala. Jelle Rigole gave the project a push in the back in 2005. SISP is a school and organisation aiming to improve the lives of underprivileged kids and adults.
In true Jelle style he added his own personal touch to the project and founded a surf school. He realized that kids needed quality time and enjoy themselves, and just as everyone who ever put their feet up on a surfboard, he knew that giving them the opportunity to play in the waves would give them an unforgettable experience. This was the birth of the Kovalam Surfclub, which today has become fully self-sufficient. The kids who got their lessons from Jelle a few years ago, now manage the club, courses and shop of the Kovalam Surfclub.
We visited Jelle and the kids of SISP on a number of occasions. We’ve had the blessing of being able to live dream with our Board ‘n Breakfast. That’s why we wanted to give something back to people who really need it. We know that every euro donated to this small project is well spent and ends up in the right place.
That’s why we regularly organise an Indian meal and donate the profits to SISP. On top of that, Ine sells the jewelery, pots and decarations made of coconut shell by the moms of SISP.
